I have to agree that they are not hymns. Not even, for the most part, decent music.

JW renaming things: "It's Not this, it's ....."
by Muddy Waters inthis was brought up in another thread, but i thought it should have its own thread.
feel free to add your own observations and experience.
the jws are so duplicit, and they rename things to somehow justify their own irrationalities.

Watchtower study today - best practice in word
by Gorbatchov indue to family reasons gorby was present today.. the watchtower study was about refugee's.. how to treat refugee's, jw and non believers, and help them spiritual, not financial.
nothing new.. what i mentioned is the juridical message underneath the whole story.
don't talk politics, listen to government regulations etc.. most bizar is that a whole congregation that normaly avoid giving any aid to people in need, this morning gave the best practice in word about what to do with refugee's.. if the subject was not that serious, this hypocracy could be funny.

road to nowhere
been lurking for 6 years or so first came on looking for KM and some things not available if you missed a meeting because the order was too small
4th generation not a lot of family
like a lot, I really wanted it to all be true but have been disappointed too many times
it bothers me to see how few paramedics, nurses, or anything other than convenience store attendants there are when compared to workmates and neighbors no ambition is allowed

Some thoughts on the committee stuff. Back in the old days I got involved and summoned by the presiding overseer and friends or whatever they were called. They were fair, concerned, handled the matter. This was the old 3 man setup they say did not working right. At least in this congregation it worked really well. I can't say the same for later committees I know about despite the men being appointed by a supposedly superior system. They are mostly kangaroo courts.
I was never appointed, now don't even want to read if my hours came up. And I want to scream every time someone worries about some teen not getting with the program. I think they understand the program quite enough. I don't know what to say to my kids or grandkids.

My parents found out

A lot of people are in but recognize something not quite right. Could be your parents. You have to consider the time and effort put into things all their lives, and some like the power. When it comes to blood kin there is a sudden moment when things get clearer as to actions.
Take advantage of what is offered at home, and ease out on your own. Some of the moral worries, money worries, are justified for all parents no matter what religion.

love of money
by road to nowhere inwe are asked to not love money, work ot (i was never asked because the company had money to give away, rather had a job that needed done), no extra schooling.. then when we read the literature they make a big deal of the ones who are rich.

Then when we read the literature they make a big deal of the ones who are rich. So proud of Abraham, David, and on. Remember Lydia? The comment was that "she was RICH" And Abraham did not live in a Walmart tent despite what the CO tells us. The comment at a convention about generosity; donations haven't fallen off, no mention of helping less fortunate ones. I do not comsider the GB to be the "least of Christ's brothers"
They sure use the money any of the better off ones have.

Aust 2016 Census observations: JW's getting older, more kids leaving, and 30+ group aren't returning
by shepherdless in1. median age.
experts will tell you that if you want to know if a population is in growth or decline, the best single number to look at is the median age of the population.
i have extracted aust census data and calculated the following approx median ages:.

They are targeting children with all the silly videos. Always have pushed child baptism as a "protection", not as a dedication. As for zeal, look at the disjointed service groups, never able to get to gether with different friends, and then not enough territory. An hour service uses up a half day with the dressing and fooling around. Then there are the 3rd grade WT studies, simple talks, constant pounding, but no real love.

2017 International Regional Convention, Toronto – Entertainment at Sony Centre
by SAHS ini’ve been hearing from several very reliable sources that there will be an exclusive elite gala entertainment event hosted by the watch tower organization, featuring specially chosen jehovah’s witnesses of outstanding talent as well as spiritual reputation, at the sony centre (formerly called the o’keefe centre) in toronto, ontario (canada) as a special “after hours” addition to the 2017 special international convention.. those chosen have to meet very strict criteria, including, not so much technical and popular talents, but, rather, their spiritual maturity which can be easily and practically related to by the audience (i.e., degree of conformity – you know what i mean!).
a notable and very well-known professional “super star” from some other country (i don’t know which one) who has achieved highly recognized and popular talent was surprisingly not chosen to participate in the extra entertainment program, whereas other performers with rather ho-hum musical abilities ended up being selected, ostensibly for their altruistic and “theocratic” qualities.
(something tells me that there is going to be some jealousy and indignant, hard feelings over this rather authoritarian, arbitrary selection process.
